What does CBD Matcha taste like?

Matcha is a finely powdered green tea leaf, often having an astringent, semi-sweet grassy flavor. For this matcha, The Brothers selected a ceremonial grade variety. Ceremonial grade is a designation given to the quality of matcha often used for a koicha or “thick tea” preparation, typical of tea ceremonies. Ceremonial Grade matcha is notably made from the youngest of tea leaves, with all the stems and veins removed; this results in a smoother quality over lower grade or “culinary” grade matcha or green tea powder.

This matcha is designed to be enjoyed as-is, without milk or sweeteners, but the exceptional quality is also fantastic over ice with milk as a matcha latte.

Tasting Notes: Vegetal, Grassy, Bright Green

Note: To support absorption of CBD, we include a very small amount of additional organic ingredients in our matcha. They add a slightly sweet, toasted coconut profile, as well as a small amount of fat molecules, which help CBD make its way through your body.

What is Matcha?

Matcha means “finely powdered tea,” and it is made from young, shade-grown green tea leaves. In fact, all matcha is shade grown because the shading of the leaves stimulates additional chlorophyll production in the plant, which gives results in its beautiful green color. Although matcha also comes from Camellia Sinensis plant, also known as the common tea plant, it is grown differently to support this extra period to produce chlorophyll. Generally, matcha farmers cover their plants 20-30 days before harvesting to avoid direct sunlight. This process increases the production of chlorophyll, giving the plant a darker hue boosting the amino acid content.

What’s more, instead of the leaves being rolled, shaped and dried like traditional tea leaves, Matcha tea leaves are dried and then ground in a slow-turning mills resulting in the fine green tea powder. Generally, matcha is then whisked into hot water or steamed milk. Matcha tends to have more caffeine than other green teas and black tea, because of how much more concentrated you get the beverage (mixed powder vs. brewed leaves).

What is a matcha or tea ceremony?

The matcha tea ceremony was often taken up by the Samurai class and high ranking members in society. The tea ceremony, also known as The Way of Tea or chanoyu in Japanese, is still practiced today. It is centered around the art of preparing and serving tea, and involves unique tradition for both host and guest. Originally developed as a spiritual practice, where the guest leaves the concerns of the outside world behind, then crawls on hands and knees into the home, a practice known as nigiri guchi, the original principals still very important to the tea ceremonies today. The ceremony is intended to invoke an atmosphere of intimacy, where the participants share a sense of equality and are present with one another.

What are the benefits of Mighty Matcha?

Matcha itself is rich in catechins, a plant compound that acts as a natural antioxidant. Because matcha is pure, ground green tea leaves, it has a more concentrated amount of antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds than other black, green, or white tea. In fact, one cup of Matcha has as many antioxidants as 10 cups of brewed green tea. It is also high in vitamin C, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium.

When should I drink Mighty Matcha?

Since Matcha is a green tea that contains caffeine, it is recommended in the morning as a coffee replacement or as a pick me up in the middle of the day.
